Snape

*edit*  This has been bumped up to the top because I really want to explore this character.  He probably is the most interesting character as LJ pointed out (except for, perhaps, Neville Longbottom who is going to surprise us all, I think).  I'm really interested in your theories and opinions and stuff, so post what you think (with proof and quotes, if possible).  I really, really don't want this to die...

So what do we think about Snape?  The way I see it, there are two options.

#1. He's still on our side.  Dd told him to kill him if he had to, they had their own Unbreakable Vow (maybe that's why Dd has trusted him all these years), they Polyjuiced their way through Dd's death (not possible b/c Harry was with him the whole time, but it's a theory floating out there), etc.  Bottom line is that it's possible that Snape is still good.  I really, really want to believe this one, because the other option is:

#2. Dumbledore has been a fool all this time.  He's just a big, dumb, trusting idiot and now all hope is lost. 

JKR has gone to such lenghts in the books to lead us to believe that there is more to Snape that we see, yet leaves plenty of room for suspicion.  So I challenge you: whose side is he on?  HBP leaves ample ammunition for both sides of the argument.  Defend your position.
